U13 Girls V Killavilla
Our U13 girls played Killavilla this morning in perfect weather!
This game was always going to be very tight in a very competitive premier league where points are hard fought.
The game went straight into a high tempo with Killavilla pressing us hard. Our backs consisted of Ciara Grimes, Eva Bailey, Lily Dunne and Moira Meehan and these girls held firm, not even letting the early balls reach our goalkeeper Katie Hartnett.
We started pressing ourselves after a short while and then a very good game developed. With 20 minutes gone we broke the deadlock through Maeve Quinn. It was a matter of getting loads of bodies in their box and causing havoc! Maeve was on hand then to blast it home! Our midfielders were Amy Keogh, Caoimhe Manley, Holly Fitzpatrick, Leanne Bergin, and Aisling Ryan. These girls were flat out straight after the goal as Killavilla were really pushing up on us. Yet again, we held firm and with long runs into opposition territory from Amy Keogh we were hitting back. Caoimhe and Holly have now a brilliant understanding of each other in centre mid and both girls were outstanding throughout the morning. The second half was like the first with both teams having chances, ones to note were 2 one v ones on our goalie Katie. With her angles perfect on both occasions, Katie kept them out with 2 outstanding saves. Eva Bailey takes credit here too, being quick to rebounds and snuffing out the opposition. In fact, Eva had her finest game today! Another girl who played her best game for us today was Maeve Quinn who proved it by scoring the second! Maeve was tenacious all day. Moira has also settled into this team, playing up from U12, she now is a big cog in the wheel. Another U12 made a debut today, Eimear Dillon had a great second half when introduced. Lily Dunne and Ciara are now very comfortable playing soccer so too are Aisling, Leanne and Fionualla, these girls are really enjoying themselves on the pitch now! We have a great attendance at training and it shows!
The game ended 2-0 and we were very happy to take it!
Thanks to Killavilla for a very competitive game and thanks also to our referee Lee Doran.
