Ballymackey U11's V Moneygall.
Our U11 girls were against Moneygall on Saturday morning. The girls haven't had a game in a while so it was great to get at it again!! We were away for this one so we'd have our work cut out to beat the home side. We shared a 1-1 draw the last time we met so this was always going to be tight. Ballymackey played against the wind in the first half and it shoulders to the wheel for most of that half. We conceded a goal mid way through that first half but we were confident we'd have our chances after the break. Chances we certainly had but we weren't converting them and we getting worried! That was until Molly O'Brien positioned herself perfectly outside their box for one of our corners and when the ball spilled out Molly drilled it to the net. A fantastic goal!!!
The girls were doing everything to get the winner but it was slipping away from us or at least until Sadhbh Kennedy hit one from outside the box to the top corner of the net to give us the lead!! Contender for goal of the season!!! Moneygall then came looking for the equaliser but our defence held firm and our midfielders came to the rescue a few times. It stayed 2-1 to Ballymackey giving us a well deserved win!!
In goals was Lily Murphy. We had Katie Hartnett, Anna Gleeson and Carly Kenneally in the backs. We had Caoimhe Manley, Holly Fitzpatrick, Katie Ryan, Sadhbh Kennedy and Molly O'Brien in midfield with Callie Mitchell and Bronagh Hogan up front.
Well done to the girls!!!
Thanks to Moneygall for a sporting game!
