Ballymackey u13 girls traveled to Knigh today to continue their league campaign and came away with A 5-1 victory. Ballymackey started on the front foot and went close to scoring early on through aoibhe hassett and Olivia Fitzpatrick but were denied by some fine goalkeeping by the Knigh goalie. After 10 minutes ballymackey opened the scoring when the ball was played out from the back through Isabel ryan, clodagh Kennedy and lily Kate Kenneally to find Olivia Looby who raced away from the Knigh defense to finish into the corner of the net. Knigh came into the game and pushed for an equalizer but stout defending by Lisa and Anna Fitzgerald kept them at bay. Soon after it was 2-0 when a loose ball in the box was toe poked home by Isabel manicle. Just before half time it was 3-0 when Mioda o Shea finished into the corner of the net giving the goalie no chance. Into the second half Grainne Troy and Olivia Fitzpatrick in midfield kept ballymackey on the front foot and ballymackey made it 4-0 when Olivia Looby pounced on a loose goal kick and raced through again to finish. Ballymackey made it 5 when Mioda o Shea put a fine cross into the box and aoibhin Delaney turned smartly to score. Knigh pushed for a goal and molly shelly in goals had to be quick off her line to collect a no of through balls. Niamh Spain and Allanah o Dwyer were defending resolutely but Knigh pulled a goal back with five minutes to go, Knigh had a chance for a second but Emma o connell in goals was quickly off her line to clear the danger.
