U11 Girls V Killavilla

Our Ballymackey U11 girls played a home game on the astro this morning against a very strong Killavilla side. We played these girls a few weeks ago and came away with a 1-0 defeat so we were expecting a tough morning! Our team was Lily Murphy in goals, Amy-Louise O'Dwyer, Katie Hartnett, Anna Gleeson and Maeve Quinn in the backs. We'd Molly O'Brien, Carly Kenneally, Saoirse Haverty, Sadhbh Kennedy and Holly Fitzpatrick in Midfield with Caoimhe Manley up front.
We actually had the better start and came very close to scoring twice. Killavilla got into the game then and pressed us hard before eventually scoring the opener. About 10 minutes later they scored from the penalty spot. We were 2 down but we were playing well and could have got one back had the Killavilla keeper not made such a good stop late in the first half.
We started very strongly in the second half and demonstrated once again that we're improving with each week. We still had trouble finding the net however but it wasn't for the lack of trying. The girls gave all they had but it just didn't work our way and as we tired from the big effort Killavilla stole in for 2 more goals making it 4-0 to seal the game for them. It could've been more only for some great saves from our dependable Lily Murphy. All the girls played well today and it's great to see them improving all the time!!
