Our U13's went down to a very strong Bt harps yesterday in Ballinree. The visitors got the perfect start with a goal inside two minutes. The Ballymackey lads dug in from there and got a deserving equaliser through Cormac Frend. It looked like game on at that stage with both teams going at it. Ten minutes later we found ourselves another goal down through a slick goal from Bt. They were starting to dominate us a little at this point but even so we had guys like Cormac Frend, Culann Hassett, Adam White, Ryan Moloney and Max Swan putting in great performances through sheer hard work. By half time we were 4-1 down and to make things worse we would be playing against the wind in the second half. Bt harps were a very well drilled side with heaps of talent so this was always going to be a difficult game for us but huge credit to our lads for not giving in because they really stuck at it until the end. We eventually went down 7-1 but in our defence this was our first game and first time together this season and a little unlucky to meet the cup favourites in our first game. Our goalkeeper Michael Ryan deserves a mention for his very good game in what was his first game in goals. The score would have been a lot higher only for him, he pulled off many saves and could do nothing about any of the goals. Our team was Michael Ryan, Darragh Hartnett, Ben Deegan, Adam White, Culann Hassett, Darragh Kelly, Artisom Deane, Shane Conway, Cormac Frend, Ryan Moloney, Jack Fitzpatrick, Max Swan, and Cody Quirke. Our thanks to referee Derek Halpin for letting the game flow.
