Ballymackey U18 girls are through to the U18 Cup Final after a 2-0 win away to BT Harps. The score was 0-0 at half time with the Ballymackey girls playing well but not converting several good scoring opportunities that arose. The mid point of the second half was reached before Ballymackey made the break through when a great delivery from a corner was sublimely steered home by Kate Cavanagh on the volley. The visitors looked good for a win at this stage as Ballymackey's defence was in an ungenerous mood and they denied the home side and clear cut chances over the entire game. The win was secured with 10 minutes remaining when Aoibhín Delaney ghosted past 4 defenders in the last 30 yards of the pitch to get the insurance score from close range.
A great win for the girls against tough opposition, we played some lovely football in attack and were very solid in defence. Aoibhín Delaney Chloe McAuliffe and Kate Cavanagh were a real hand for the home side in midfield and in a great defensive effort Leah McLoughney was our player of the match from left back
