Killavilla were the visitors to the school pitch in Ballinree on a sunny Friday evening. From the kick off the well drilled Killavilla footballers were much the better side and ran up an early lead scoring 4 goals in the opening 15 minutes. With the game being split into 4 quarters for water breaks it was decided by the Ballymackey coaches that we would play each quarter as it's own mini game.
It was purely a case of trying to keep the score down and to their credit, despite the big scoreline, every girl in the Ballymackey squad kept playing to the end. It was 6-0 by half time and the game was long lost. Every girl in the squad of 16 got plenty of pitch time and this is a policy which we as coaches will strive to continue with no matter the score, positive or negative.
At end of the day the girls lost a game of football but that's all it was, a game of football. It finished 10-0 to the visitors and we wish Killavilla the best of luck in the final but if they play anywhere near as well in the final as they did tonight they won't rely on luck to win it. The Ballymackey squad was: Ava O'Rourke, Mioda O'Shea, Sadhb Connolly (captain), Hannah Walsh, Grace Kilgannon, Aisling Kennedy, Anna Paxman, Alannah O'Dwyer, Niamh Kennedy, Anna Lee, Lisa Fitzgearld, Seonaid McGuigan, Jenna Hackett, Siùn Conway, Sarah Young and Aileen Moroney.
