Ballymackey under 12 girls bowed out of the cup at the semi final stage but gave it their all in doing so, up against a well drilled Killavilla outfit Ballymackey were on the back foot from the off and the defense of Anna Fitzgerald Charlotte Deegan and Sophia Kennedy has to make some last ditch tackles to stop Killavilla going in front, Molly Shelley in goals was kept busy but unfortunately Ballymackey were 2-0 down half way through the first half, the Ballymackey girls kept plugging away and were rewarded were Allanah o Dwyer combined with Mioda o Shea for Mioda to pull a goal back, Ballymackey had settled into the game now and were holding their own Mary Kate Purtill, Lily O Brien and Molly Conway worked hard in midfield and up front to win the ball back, Caoimhe Cleary and her sister Lauren made their under 12 debut in defense and worked hard to keep Killavilla at bay.
Just before half time Killavilla got in along the right for a third goal to leave the half time score 3-1 to Killavilla. In the second half Ballymackey came out determined to get back in the match, Emma O Connell was on now in goals but had little to do as the defense of Lisa Fitzgerald, Niamh Kennedy and Lily Kate Kenneally stopped everything Killavilla had to throw at them. About 10 minutes in Ballymackey were given a lifeline were a great run by Olivia Looby ended in her being taken down for a penalty which Mioda o shea dispatched expertly. The centre midfield pairing of Olivia Fitzpatrick and grace Kilgannon who worked tirelessly throughout were on top now and Mya McGrath went close to grabbing an equaliser but was denied by the Killavilla goalie. Killavilla then grabbed a fourth from a deflected corner and a fifth just a few minutes from time. Ballymackey girls never gave up and battled to the final whistle and can be very proud of their efforts on a night when we had 19 girls togged out and they all played a part. Best of luck to Killavilla in the final.
