Ballymackey travelled to Knigh Utd for a Cup quarter final and came away with a 5-2 win. Ballymackey FC had an age advantage on their hosts who were mainly a U17 team. A good start saw Ballymackey race into a 3-0 lead Laura Bergin grabbed our opener and this was followed by a quick fire Áine Tuohy brace to put clear daylight between the teams Knigh pulled one back before the break to leave the Half time score 3-1. In the second half Ballymackey added 2 more goals to go 5-1 up. Maria Moroney scored from a corner and then Andrea Brennan got our goal of the match, a move that started with Aoibheann Slattery winning the ball on her own end line and working the ball out under pressure and 3 passes later Andrea cut in off the right wing to finish off the left hand post. Knigh rounded out the scoring for a 5-2 full time score. A great effort from the Girls who never let their work-rate slip. Stand out performances from Laura Bergin, Áine Tuohy and Niamh O Brien and our player of the match was Samantha Hogan who displayed searing pace down the right flank.
