Ballymackey u13 girls second team welcomed Clodaigh Rangers to Ballinree this afternoon and served up an entertaining game of football to the parents and supporters who donned the wellies and braved the elements to cheer on the girls. The visitors started the brighter and were worthy of their early two goal lead scored in the 1st and 13 minutes. Ballymackey came back into the game and good play from Grace Quinn down the right set up Aisling Kennedy who just couldn't keep her shot down. Mioda O'Shea who at times gave an exhibition of midfield ball retention and passing won a free kick and delivered a fantastic ball into the Clodaigh penalty area which somehow wasn't converted despite a number of attempts at the target. Clodaigh Rangers broke in the 24th min to grab a 3rd but Ballymackey hit back almost immediately. Ballymackey player of the match, Grace Quinn, cut in from the right wing to score across the keeper after a great pass from Mioda O'Shea. So 3-1 to Cloadigh Rangers at half time with the home team wondering how they were 2 behind.
The second half was a very even affair with both sides having chances and both goalkeepers being called into action. Sadhb Connolly was extremely unlucky not to score and Alannah O'Dwyer and Aisling Kennedy both called the visiting keeper into action. Six minutes from time Clodaigh Rangers were awarded a penalty and it was well dispatched to the bottom left corner.
So 4-1 to Clodaigh Rangers was the final score but as has been the case in many of our u13 Major adventures the scoreline didn't tell the full story. Today's squad was: Ava O'Rourke in goal, Hazel O'Donovan, Ava Quigley (captain for today), Aileen Moroney, Jenna Hackett, Hannah Walsh, Alannah O'Dwyer, Grace Quinn, Aisling Kennedy, Sadhb Connolly and Mioda O'Shea.
