Ballymackey u12 girls made light of the horrible post Lorenzo conditions to register a good league win away to Shinrone. Playing with a stiff breeze in the first half Ballymackey took an early lead when a great through ball from Aileen Mooney was finished well by Grace Quinn. Supported by Saoirse Ryan and Anna Lee, who also both netted in the first half, Grace filled her boots as Ballymackey made the most of captain Ella Frend's decision to avail of the assisting elements to effectively kill the game before half time. The 2nd half started similar to the first with Grace Quinn again finding the net this time from an accurate kick pass from her hands by goalkeeper Ava O'Rourke. Shinrone to their credit pulled a goal back a few minutes later to great cheers from the home sideline. Aisling Kennedy got on the score sheet a few minutes later which was a great reward for her intelligent running all game. With the game in the bag Jenna Hackett having being moved from her earlier full back role to centre forward gave the coaches a selection headache for the next match as she gave an exhibition of finishing in the last 15 minutes which would have graced any football pitch. With the rain unrelenting there was some fighting for a place on the relatively comfortable subs bench. Audible groans were not uncommon when players were called into the action but all played their part in a good team performance. Special mention to Sarah Young who despite being injured, togged out and sat with her teammates in the away dugout. Sarah also took on the role of club secretary and made great match notes. Full squad was: Ava O'Rourke, Jenna Hackett, Aileen Moroney, Lisa Fitzgerald, Grace Quinn, Ella Frend (captain), Anna Paxman, Aisling Kennedy, Sadhb Connelly, Allanah O'Dwyer, Hazel O'Donovan, Anna Lee, Saoirse Ryan and Sarah Young.
