Under 15s national cup
Ballymackey 1-3 Killarney
A tough opening game of the season for our under 15s vs Killarney.
We welcomed Killarney to Ballymackey and started the game on a positive note. The opening exchanges were shared equally. Unfortunately Killarney got the early breakthrough and subsequently built on that to hold a 3 nil lead at half time.
Ballymackey came out in the second half with more intent and asked some questions of the visitors with both Jack Doran and Adam McCauliffe hitting the crossbar with superb free kicks. Ballymackey finally made the breakthrough with a fine header from Jake Hackett, unfortunately time wasn't on our side despite creating quite a few chances in the second half. Special mention for Jack Harford who took over goal keeping duties on the day in the absence of our regular keeper and made some fine stops and kept us in the game.
This is the end of the road for Ballymackey in the national cup but we have plenty to play for with the North Tipperary league and cup to come.
Best of luck to Killarney in the next round.
Ballymackey will now turn our attention to the NTSFL league and regardless of the result we look in good stead based on our overall performance today.
