Ballymackey Women have been drawn against top-class opposition in the last 16 of the Leinster Football Association Women’s Junior Cup. The girls will host the winner of the heavyweight clash between Terenure Rangers and Bellurgan United, with the tie scheduled to take place in Ballinree on February 8th.
Whoever emerges from the January encounter will present a significant challenge. Bellurgan United are the current North Eastern Football League Cup and League double champions, while Terenure Rangers are the reigning Leinster Cup holders and have won two FAI Amateur Cup titles in the last three years.
With top opposition guaranteed, this will be a much anticipated fixture for Ballymackey. The squad are training hard and will be aiming to carry their recent good form into the resumption of Combined Counties Football League League action after Christmas. Maintaining momentum over the coming weeks will be key as preparations continue for what promises to be a high-quality Leinster Cup showdown in early February.
