U12 Girls V Knigh utd

Our U12 girls got a fine win this morning on the astro at home to Knigh utd.
A bit frosty, but perfect conditions otherwise in Ballinree. The first half was a very even contest with both teams close to scoring a number of times.
It was the Ballymackey girls who scored first when Kate England played a super ball through to Caoimhe Manley who then finished beautifully to Knigh utd net. Knigh struck back 5 minutes later with a solo run by one their players. It was 1-1 at the break.
We had a dream start to the second half with 2 goals in quick succession, both scored by our energetic Lily Dunne. Just like the first goal, these 2 goals came from brilliant through balls from Caoimhe Manley and Leanne Bergin. Our girls played great soccer throughout and our defence were once again tenacious. Katie in goals was again very solid, making good saves in both halves.
The game finished 3-1 but we had to fight hard all the way. Eva Bailey, Clara Kennedy, Holly Fitzpatrick and Aisling Ryan were brilliant at the back. Our midfield consisted of Lily Dunne, Kate England, Elsa Fitzgerald, Leanne Bergin and Abbie Hogan who all had fine games. Our striker today was Caoimhe Manley who was her usual brilliant all through.
Our player of the match goes to Lily Dunne who scored 2 fine goals and gave all she had for 60 minutes!
Thanks to Knigh utd for a sporting game.
Thanks also to Bobby O'Connor for reffing.
Up Ballymackey 💪
