U12 Girls V Lough Derg

Our girls played away to Lough derg this morning, and unfortunately, we came out second best.

On the plus side, we've improved since we last met them.
We were doing all the attacking early on and had a few chances to go in front. We worked the ball well through the lines from the goalkeeper out, putting together some great passages of play. Lough derg caught us out for a goal after 20 minutes, it was a ball we'd usually deal it. We were still looking for our goal, and it looked like we'd get one with all the chances we had! Their keeper even stopped our penalty late in the first half, and we got the feeling the game wasn't going our way!
The second half was very entertaining, with both sides having plenty of chances. It was Lough derg who scored again however, another fortuitous one, but they all count!!
We threw everything at them after this, but they held firm at the back, and it remained 2 nil.
Katie was super again today in goals. Our backs comprising of Eva, Amy, Kate, Aisling, Abbie and Sally all playing well and getting more experienced. Our midfield girls made up of Holly, Maeve, Caoimhe, Lily, Ellen, Clara all played very well today. Callie and Leanne were upfront at different stages, trying to engineer goal chances, but nothing worked their way. Just one of those days!!
We had stand-out performances from Katie in goals, Sally in the backs, Holly in midfield, and Caliie up front, but our stand-out girl today was Caoimhe Manley. She was unlucky to miss her penalty, but she caused trouble for the opposition all through the game.
Many thanks to Lough derg for a sporting game and well done to them.
Thanks also to our referee, Cathal Mullane.
