Ballymackey Women are through to the North Tipp Cup final after a hard fought 2-0 win at home to BT Harps. Ballymackey were made to work very hard for the win with the 2 goals both coming in the final 18 minutes of the match. Ballymackey created lots of chances throughout with the dangerous duo of Hazel Cawley and Christine O Keefe causing BT Harps lots of problems, but the important first goal wouldn't come. When Lisa Tooheys thunderous drive came back off the crossbar at the midpoint of the second half it looked like it was going to be one of those days, but the breakthrough eventually did come. From a Hazel Cawley corner Toohey hit the crossbar again this time from a header, but Christine O Keefe did brilliant to guide the rebound that came quickly at her, home. Minutes later there was some daylight between the sides, Thia McCarty slipped a lovey through ball in to Hazel Cawley who still had a lot to do, but she finished emphatically giving the visiting Keeper no chance to put 2 between the sides and leave Ballymackey with a relatively comfortable finish to the game. Great performance from the girls who had to dig deep to win with BT Harps really putting it up to them. The Squad comprised of Darra Bourke, Chloe Whyte, Niamh O Brien, Nicole Ryan, Zoey Gratton, Chloe McAuliffe, Rachel Sheehan, Lisa Toohey Aoibhín Delaney, Christine O Keefe, Hazel Cawley, Allison McDonnell, Laura Gleeson, Shauna Egan, Emma Nolan, Laura Kinsella, Thia McCarthy and 2 of our younger girls in the Senior Squad for the first time Míoda O Shea and Ava O Rourke.
