Ballymackey women secured the North Tipperary Women's League with a 5-3 win at home to District of Castletroy in their last League game. The visitors started well and were on top in the first 10 minutes of the game getting a few half sights of the Ballymackey goal. Christine O Keefe gave Ballymackey the lead, she was found in the box by a Aoibhín Delaney long throw and she finished calmly to the net past the outrushing Castletroy netminder. The goal settled Ballymackey and they got a grip on the game, the same duo linked up for the second Delaney playing O Keefe in behind the Castletroy defence and she finished smartly again. Delaney struck the post from a great shot from the edge of the box and O Keefe had an effort just over the crossbar as Ballymackey tried to put daylight between them and their visitors but District of Castletroy found themselves back in the match when a free kick from distance took a peculiar bounce in front of Darra Bourke in the Ballymackey goal to end up in the back of the net.

Ballymackey had a strong start to the second half. Lisa Toohey got Ballymackey's third goal lobbing the Castletroy goalkeeper from the right corner of the box. Hazel Cawley was causing problems for the visitors and she had gone close to scoring before she got her self goalside of her marker in the box and was fouled for a penalty. Christine O Keefe stepped up to complete her hattrick to put 3 between the sides by the half time water break. Cawley grabbed the home sides fifth getting to a great through ball before the keeper to poke the ball home and leave no doubt about the outcome of the Match. A young skillful Castletroy side battled to the end and 2 late goals made it a 5-3 match and put a more just look on the scoreboard. A great effort from the Ballymackey girls with all 13 players significantly contributing to a complete team performance. Fantastic to see such hunger and workrate in at team playing their 33rd game in a 12 month period of continuous football. Captain Lisa Toohey lead the team by example, Niamh O Brien was outstanding throughout raiding down the left from wingback but with a hattrick in a League decider Player of the match was Christine O Keefe.
