U13Girls V Lough derg 2nd round of Cup
We travelled over to Clarisford Park this evening for a cup tie with Lough derg. These 2 teams were evenly matched all through. It was Ballymackey who were pressing hard from the kick off. We had quiet a few good chances and near misses but just couldn't get the ball over the line! Lough derg came into the game then and threatened us at the other end. Our backs consisted of Kate McGrath, Alicia Dywer, Lily Dunne and Molly O'Brien were on their game this evening. They defended very well and played the ball out from the back to good effect. Our midfielders were Amy Keogh, Bethany Starr, Maeve Quinn, Elsa Fitzgerald, Holly Fitzpatrick, Clodagh Kinsella and Amy-Louise O'Dwyer. Upfront was Lily Murphy and Caoimhe Manley. Lough derg got a goal late in the first half and this proved to be the winner. Despite plenty of the ball we found it difficult to get one back. All the girls played really well and they keep improving. Our stand out girls this evening were Lily and Kate in the backs, Holly in midfield but our joint players of the match were Amy and Caoimhe who were super for 60 minutes displaying high levels of fitness and tenacity.
Best of luck to Lough derg in the next round and thanks to our referee Alannah McCole.
