Our Senior Women had their first outing in the Tipperary Ladies soccer League away to Holycross. We were in very hard look to go down to a 1-0 loss in a match which we deserved something from. It was a fantastic performance from the girls and we had the lions share of possession and chances but we found Holycross net minder Rachel Sweeney in inspired form. Amy Bergin, Joanne O Brien, Aoibhín Delaney and Chelsea White all went close for us in open play, as well as a fantastic Aoibhín Delaney 30 yard free kick crashing off the corner of the upright and crossbar.

The result aside everything else was a positive on the night, we travelled with 18 players and used the maximum 16 that we were allowed and all contributed to a excellent team performance. Laura Bergin, Chelsea White and Joanne O Brien all made their senior debuts on the night. We played brilliant controlled possession football at a high tempo and the Match was a great showcase to the standard Women's Football in Tipperary is reaching.

Christine Coffey was super in goals and linked up well with her teammates from placed balls as well as open play. Our backs Niamh O Brien, Dani Slattery, Aoibheann Slattery, Chloe McAuliffe as well as subs Laura Bergin and Leah McLoughney all defended aggressively and solidly and all contributed to the team in possession.

In the centre of the field, Kate Kavanagh, Aoibhín Delaney, Joanne O Brien and sub Chelsea White played with great poise and quality. We attacked with real purpose and our front 3 of Amy Bergin, Noelle Hassett, Laura Mc Carthy and subs Michaela Lillis and Brittany Hogan put tremendous pressure on the home defence. We must also give a big mention to Andrea Brennan and Anna Grace who travelled all the way to Holycross who we were unable to get on the Field as we had used all our quota of subs, we really appreciate them travelling and with both these girls scoring 2 goals on Saturday, they will no doubt make telling contributions to our League campaign.

We really appreciate Andrea and Anna's commitment travelling to the match We really appreciate Andrea and Anna's commitment travelling to the match

Very hard to pick a player of the match with so many players performing so well, but we had real eye catching performances from Aoibheann Slattery, Niamh O Brien and Kate Kavanagh, but our player of the match was Joanne O Brien with a complete Midfield contribution, both in possession and without the ball. Her amazing work rate was typified late on when she tracked back from attack to make a vital tackle in our box.

We had another top performance from AoibheannWe had another top performance from Aoibheann

We will take all the positives from the performance and drive on. 12 of our 18 squad on the night are all under 18 years of age and are only getting started. The older girls coming into our club have been a huge addition and we are delighted to have them. Since Saturday 20 girls have lined out for us in Senior Football, several making their debuts for the club and several making their Senior Debuts a really historic time for the Club
